This state-of-the-art facility has been specifically designed to allow intensive hands-on and clinically based dental education. The DEI provides continuing education courses with an emphasis on teaching clinical techniques and skills necessary to remain proficient in clinical practice.

Courses held at the DEI are eligible for CE credits and aim to give dentists, hygienist, auxiliaries and dental specialists a wide choice of educational opportunities including a range of course formats such as lectures, workshops, hands-on demonstrations, live-surgery patient demonstrations with an emphasis on smaller more intimate groups to maximise interaction and your overall educational experience.

The DEI facility consists of a lecture/ training room fully equipped with data projector, large LED screen, PC, multiple laptop inputs, Audio, microphone, digital visualiser and WiFi access. The facility also has a dedicated clinics equipped with high resolution clinical cameras which has an audiovisual link to the training room so that participants can watch live surgical/ clinical procedures.

Dr Michael Danesh-Meyer is a registered specialist in periodontics and dental implants and returned to New Zealand in 2000 following two years in the USA where he was Clinical Assistant Professor in Periodontology and Associate Scientist in the Laboratory for Applied Periodontal and Cranio-facial Regeneration at Temple University, School of Dentistry in Philadelphia. While in the USA, he was involved teaching implant dentistry and periodontics at postgraduate level.

Dr Danesh-Meyer graduated with his BDS (with credit) and MDS (with distinction) from University of Otago, School of Dentistry in Dunedin. He worked as a specialist in dental implants and periodontics in Dunedin and Christchurch prior to his departure to the USA.

Dr Danesh-Meyer has been involved in pre-clinical and clinical research involving guided tissue regeneration/guided bone regeneration and dental implants since 1991, he has authored numerous scientific articles, and lectures both nationally and internationally on topics related to implant dentistry and tissue regeneration therapy.

Most recently, he has been involved in research using Bone Morphogenic Proteins (BMP's) for periodontal and alveolar regeneration. Since returning to New Zealand, Dr Danesh-Meyer founded the Institute of Dental Implants and Periodontics in Newmarket, Auckland.

He lectures extensively, both nationally and internationally and presents numerous hands-on training programs including live surgical demonstrations on the topics of dental implants and advanced periodontal therapies including regenerative techniques. With 30 years of experience in dental implant placement and having placed thousands of implants, Dr Danesh-Meyer is one of the most experienced dental implant surgeons in New Zealand. His clinic was recently recognised a Centre of Excellence for providing All-on-4 full arch tooth replacement with dental implants.

Dr Danesh-Meyer is a Fellow of the International Congress of Oral Implantologists (ICOI), Past-President of the Auckland Implant Study Group, and formerly the Secretary of the Australasian Osseointegration Society (NZ). He is a member of the American Academy of Periodontology, American Academy of Implant Dentistry, Australian Society of Implant Dentistry, Foundation member of the NZ Academy for Cosmetic Dentistry, International Academy of Periodontology, Australian and New Zealand Academy of Periodontists and a member of the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons. He was a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Periodontology at Temple University in the USA, where he taught graduate periodontics and implant dentistry. He is the founder of the Auckland Dental Implant Forums. Dr Danesh-Meyer is also Director of the Dental Education Continuum which provides regular continuing dental education courses for dentists, dental specialists, hygienists and dental assistants at the Auckland clinical training centre. He is a Fellow of the ITI (International Team for Implantology) and a Co-director of the Auckland Central ITI Study Group.

Dr Danesh-Meyer is a specialist in Dental Implants and Periodontology and has been performing dental implant surgery for well over a decade. He presently uses Nobel BioCare (Branemark, NobelSpeedy, NobelReplace, NobelParallel, N1 implants), Straumman and Biomet 3i Implant systems in his clinical practice.
