Dr Shraddha Patel is a Registered Specialist Endodontist and founder of Auckland Endodontics, with nearly 20 years of clinical experience across New Zealand and Australia. She completed her Bachelor of Dental Surgery at the University of Otago in 2007, followed by a year as a Dental House Officer with Auckland District Health Board, gaining experience across Middlemore Hospital, Greenlane Clinical Centre and Auckland City Hospital. She subsequently practised in both public and private dentistry across New Zealand and Australia, spending 14 years in general dental practice before specialising in Endodontics. This broad clinical experience has given her a strong understanding of comprehensive patient care and the challenges faced by referring dentists.
Dr Patel completed her Doctor of Clinical Dentistry in Endodontics at the University of Otago in 2023, supported by a University of Otago Doctoral Scholarship. During her specialist training, she contributed to undergraduate clinical teaching and supervision. Her doctoral research investigated the influence of Type 2 diabetes on angiogenesis within the dental pulp, with her research presented internationally and published in peer-reviewed journals.
In 2023, Dr Patel received the Australia and New Zealand Academy of Endodontists Sir John M Booth Award, supporting her attendance at the European Society of Endodontology Congress in Helsinki, where she presented her research.
She is passionate about all aspects of endodontics, with a particular interest in the diagnosis and treatment of complex endodontic conditions, tooth preservation and multidisciplinary care. She established the Auckland Endo Study Club to provide a collegial forum for dentists to discuss clinical cases, share experiences and explore contemporary endodontic diagnosis and treatment. She is committed to fostering collaborative relationships with referring dentists and advancing endodontic education through clinical discussion, knowledge sharing and evidence-based practice.
Outside of work, Shraddha enjoys travelling, spending time with family and friends, staying active and exploring new places. She also has an appreciation for good food, design and the arts.
